TIPS

I thought any writers out there might find this useful It came from the workshop I did on Wednesday.

LINDA LEWIS’S TOP TEN SHORT STORY WRITING TIPS

1. READ AS MANY SHORT STORIES AS YOU CAN
2. STUDY THE MARKET BEFORE SENDING ANYTHING OUT
3. CHECK THE WORD COUNT FITS THE MARKET/COMPETITION
4. HAVE A STRONG OPENING LINE
5. END THE STORY SOONER RATHER THAN LATER
6. MAKE SURE YOU KNOW WHOSE STORY IT IS YOU ARE TELLING
7. IF POSSIBLE, LINK THE END AND THE BEGINNING
8. READ STORIES OUT LOUD BEFORE SUBMITTING THEM
9. PROOF READ WITH CARE
and most importantly of all
10. KEEP TRYING AND NEVER GIVE UP.
